Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Smyrna, Tennessee (Zip: 37167) – near Nashville
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1990–$2130
• Healthcare Setting: Women’s Services Unit – Labor & Delivery
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: July 13, 2025 – End: October 12, 2025)
• Shift: 12-Hour Days (07:00 – 19:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month
• Unit Features: 9 L&D beds, 3 swing rooms, 2 ORs, 3-bed OBED, 8-bed Level II NICU
• Staffing: 24/7 midwives, dedicated CRNA, OBGYN on call, unit secretary, scrub tech
• Documentation: CPN and Meditech electronic health record systems
• Awards: HCA Unit of Distinction 2021, TIPQC Pilot Hospital for NTSV and Team Birth

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities
• Preferred: Advanced skills such as Spinning Babies and STABLE certification
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Dress Code: Hot pink top preferred, black bottoms allowed

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to laboring patients in a clinical setting
• Support personalized birth experiences and patient preferences
• Circulate in operating room (OR), assist with IUPC, FSE, MgSO4 administration, postpartum hemorrhage management (JADA system), and nitrous oxide use
• Promote couplet care and breastfeeding, including donor milk availability
• Collaborate with midwives, CRNA, OBGYN, and NICU staff for high-risk deliveries
• Document patient care using CPN and Meditech EHR systems
• Float to postpartum or other hospital departments as needed
• Maintain patient experience scores above 75%
