Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist for an inpatient rehab role requiring at least 1 year of experience and current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Short-term acute care hospital, inpatient rehab unit
• Daily patient load ranges from 8 to 10
• Day shifts, Monday through Friday, typically 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• No weekend or on-call shifts required
• Patients include those in ICU, CICU, NICU, ortho, neuro, and surgical units preparing for discharge
• No floating required within this unit
• Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience preferred
• Works collaboratively with nursing, case management, occupational therapy, and speech therapy teams
• Main responsibilities include patient evaluation, development and implementation of exercise plans, education for discharge, and safety/injury prevention
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role
• Candidates are required to work 2 of 3 major holidays as part of contract
• Free on-site parking is available
• Black pants and royal blue scrubs are required
• Any permanent or PRN employees from the facility must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday time off may be auto-approved; longer requests require approval
• Local candidates are accepted for this allied health position

Requirements

• Active PT license required if applicable and must be in hand prior to start date
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience as a Physical Therapist in an inpatient or acute care setting
• Current BLS certification required (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Experience in acute care, home exercise programs, patient/family education, geriatrics, medical surgical, neurology, and orthopedics preferred
• Must be able to perform lifting and transfers, pain assessments, strength testing, and use adaptive/assistive devices
• Must have completed a degree from a university accredited by ACEN or CCNE
