Endoscopy Technician Qualifications

n
• High School Diploma or GED (Required)n
• 5+ years of experience in endoscopy reprocessing or central sterile reprocessing (Required)n
• Previous patient care experience in an Endoscopy Center or GI Department (Required)n
• Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) credential (Required)n
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required)n
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferredn
• Proficient with endoscopic and reprocessing equipmentn
• Detail-oriented, organized, and accuraten
• Ability to work independently in a clinical settingn
• Strong written and verbal communication skillsn

Endoscopy Technician Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with safe and efficient endoscopic procedures for adult patientsn
• Decontaminate, reprocess, and maintain endoscopic equipment and accessoriesn
• Ensure cleanliness of GI procedure rooms and reprocessing areasn
• Manage inventory of endoscopy and reprocessing supplies and equipmentn
• Support patient care in procedure rooms, including specimen collection and room turnaroundn
• Assist in pre- and post-procedure recovery areas, greeting patients and supporting RN staff with patient care and dischargen
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot endoscopic equipment as neededn
• Ensure compliance with high-level disinfection practices and maintain accurate recordsn
