Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ED Holds/Telemetry position requiring a strong cardiac tele background and current AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in the ED Holds/Telemetry unit within an acute care hospital
• Primarily cares for ED holds waiting for inpatient beds and telemetry patients
• Patient ratio is 1:4 with up to 60 beds in the unit
• Responsibilities include titration of cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Nurses are required to read and interpret telemetry strips without monitor tech support
• Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferred but not required
• Scheduled for 12-hour shifts, 7a–7p or 7p–7a, with the ability to self-schedule (subject to change)
• Must work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and rotate on 2 of 4 major holidays
• Floating required to med/surg, telemetry, overflow units, and between two ED campuses as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Will provide care to ED hold and telemetry patients, prioritizing tele population over medical-surgical patients
• May assist with ED tasks such as vitals, IV starts, and medication administration, but will not be assigned as primary RN for ED patients
• Supported by ED charge nurse and ED PCTs
• Orientation includes 2 shifts in Med/Surg/Tele at the primary campus
• Scrub color requirement is navy
• Major holidays are rotated with permanent staff
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; prior travel experience not required
• Candidates must not have been employed by the facility or associated affiliates within the past year

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years recent telemetry nursing experience within the last 6 months
• Valid BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications from AHA or APEX required
• Strong cardiac tele background with experience in cardiac drip titration
• Must pass the Relias dysrhythmia exam (maximum 2 attempts) within 48 hours of offer
• Pass/Fail Sim Lab and sterile technique assessment on day one of orientation
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips independently
