Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sonographer with at least one year of acute hospital experience and ARDMS and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting within the Ultrasound department
• Responsibilities include general, abdominal, OB, thyroid, scrotal, appendix, procedural, para-thoracic, and joint aspiration ultrasound studies
• Patient populations include adult, pediatric, and obstetric
• Department handles both inpatient and outpatient cases, as well as ER and L&D on a separate floor
• Caseload averages 25-33 studies per 24 hours
• Uses two Philips Epic ultrasound machines and McKesson PACS; EMR is Epic
• Variable shifts are available, including 8 and 10-hour day or night shifts
• Weekend and holiday coverage may be required based on department needs
• No call or standby requirements except potentially for holidays
• Hospital scrubs are provided, or you may wear your own of any color
• Duties are focused on a broad mix of general and specialty ultrasound exams; vascular, echo, and DVT experience is not required
• Expect to float between inpatient, outpatient, ER, and L&D as needed
• Three-shift orientation period before working independently
• Resource support is available on day shifts; night shifts require independent work
• Department is staffed 24/7 and flexibility for variable scheduling is required
• Permanent employees must have a one-year gap before applying as a traveler
• Weekend shifts and holiday coverage may be assigned
• No blocked scheduling or special shift requests will be accommodated

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Sonographer in a hospital setting is required, with preference for more than one year and at least one completed assignment
• Must have current unrestricted ARDMS and BLS certifications
• Active state license required if applicable
• Documented experience with appendix studies (frequently ordered for peds) and some OB experience, including first trimester and anatomy scans
• Experience working independently during night shifts
• Familiarity with Epic EMR and McKesson PACS is preferred
• Ability to provide two professional references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
• Copy of valid driver's license required
• Compliant with 50-mile radius rule; local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible
