Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Center ICU position requiring recent acute care experience and EPIC proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the ICU at an academic Level 1 Trauma Center
• Care for adult critical care populations including neuro, cardiothoracic, burn, trauma surgery, and general ICU cases
• Evening/night shifts with 8 or 12 hour options from 19:00 to 07:30
• Every other weekend rotation and some holiday coverage required
• Floating required with priority given to travelers and potential for assignment in multiple ICU or IMC/progressive/general care units as needed
• EPIC EMR is used and experience is required
• Deliver specialized critical care to diverse and high-acuity patient populations
• Orientation provided, typically about one week and held in person at the hospital
• Strict passing criteria for telemetry testing with required identification of lethal rhythms; up to two attempts allowed before remedial action
• Magnet certified academic environment offers opportunities for professional growth and shared governance involvement
• First-time travelers may be accepted in certain units based on need
• No local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Holiday shift coverage is required as assigned
• Parking on-site requires a permit; various alternative transportation options are available

Requirements

• Active WI RN license or Compact RN license from permanent address state in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS
• Two years of acute care ICU RN experience within the last three years in adult populations
• Experience in a Level 1 Trauma academic teaching hospital required
• Experience with multiple ICU specialties (neuro, burn, cardiothoracic, trauma surgery, etc.)
• Basic arrhythmia experience required
• Must pass a telemetry test prior to the start of assignment
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility
• Successful completion of at least one previous 13-week travel assignment
• EPIC EMR experience required
