Join our team supporting the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), which ensures seamless command and control over the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This exciting opportunity as a Transport Network Engineer entails playing a crucial role in sustaining and maintaining critical network services.

This position is part of the Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) contract, where you will be focused on performing vital services to ensure the ongoing security, reliability, and availability of the Department of Defense networks.

**Position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret security clearance.**

**Salary Range: $80,000 to $85,000**

Key Responsibilities:

• Network Design and Engineering
  • Design network management systems and develop Methods of Procedure based on architecture modifications following approval by the Engineering Review Board.
  • Implement new network hardware on operational nodes and monitor for customer traffic behavior.
  • Recommend operational and maintenance best practices to management.
  • Gather data, model configurations, and provide recommendations to optimize network efficiency.
• Engineering Incident Management Support
  • Conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting across diverse Transport platforms, including SONET, DWDM, and others.
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendors to perform root cause analysis of issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in ServiceNow for all incidents and maintain a real-time network database.
  • Facilitate Authorized Service Interruption activities for effective maintenance coordination.
  • Engage with government clients and vendors for troubleshooting, ensuring timely resolutions.

Basic Qualifications:

• DoD 8750 certification at IAT level II, Security+ CE or equivalent is required.
• Experience with Transport platforms such as CIENA and Cisco.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshoot Optical networks with hands-on experience.
• Familiarity with DWDM and SONET technologies.
• Active Secret security clearance is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficient in both Ciena and Cisco configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with network timing systems and power systems.
• Well-versed in Physical and Data Link troubleshooting techniques.
• Exceptional project management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of DoD regulations and directives is favorable.

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of experience (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
