As a Driver Trainee, you will:

• Learn the critical responsibilities of a Driver, including the accurate and prompt delivery of products to various customer locations.
• Gain practical experience in warehouse and operational tasks as you progress towards becoming a McLane Driver.

Benefits You Can Count On:

• Training Pay Rate: $20.50/hour.
• Post-Training Pay: Between $80,000 and $90,000.
• Compensation Structure: Hourly, based on Miles, Stops, and Cases after training.

Your Responsibilities as a Driver Trainee:

• Skillfully maneuver the tractor to attach the trailer and secure lines.
• Operate the truck safely in accordance with all local, state, federal regulations and company policies.
• Conduct thorough inspections of the tractor-trailer equipment pre/post trip and complete the DOT inspection report.
• Utilize a Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH) to document delivery receipts and monitor product temperatures.
• Train alongside a Driver Trainer, learning commercial driving regulations and essential driving skills.
• Maintain accurate driver logs in compliance with DOT regulations, documenting necessary details.
• Assist the Driver in unloading the trailer and delivering products to customer locations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Fulfill eligibility criteria in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Complete training and earn your Class A CDL within six months or less.
• Willingness to handle loading/unloading and delivering all products ordered by McLane customers.
• Able to stand, walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, squat, and stoop to fulfill job functions.
• Comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading effectively.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to verify product quantities.
• Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members.
• Demonstrate safe driving skills, familiarity with equipment such as a dolly and ramps, and use of onboard PeopleNet devices.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective job performance and safety compliance.
