Tooling Supervisor

The primary contact in the Die Shop, the Tooling Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing hourly employees to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. This role oversees tooling repairs, coordinates with internal departments and external vendors, and ensures compliance with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and prioritize all activities related to tooling repairs and scheduling.
• Determine necessary steps for disassembly, restoration, repair, and replacement.
• Track all stages and due dates within the internal database.
• Coordinate across multiple departments including Die Design, Die Engineering, Quality, and Planning.
• Collaborate with external tool and die shops for overflow work and customized jobs.
• Oversee the purchasing of external services and track costs.
• Supervise and provide daily guidance for direct reports.

Essential Skills

• Previous experience managing, supervising, or leading others in a manufacturing environment.
• Background in tool and die is preferred; experience in heavy machining is required.
• Strong project management skills, including communication, organizational, and coordination abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a similar discipline.
• 7 to 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role with direct reports.
• Experience in CNC Machining and CAD/CAM Programming is a plus.

Work Environment

The work environment features very large hydraulic presses ranging from 8,000 to 50,000 tons, which can be very loud and shake the floor when operating. The 50,000-ton press is a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark. The plant floor is not temperature controlled and can sometimes get fairly hot. This role is estimated to be 80% overseeing and coordinating die repair and restoration, and 20% supervising and guiding direct reports. There are 29 people over 3 shifts that will report to this role.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Newburgh Heights, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $105000.00/yr. 401(k) plan, health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid holidays and sick days, and family and parenting benefits like family medical leave
