Tool Manager
The Tool Manager is a critical role within Baker Electric, Inc., located in Des Moines, IA. The position will be responsible for overseeing the tool department, including but not limited to, maintaining tool inventory and ensuring all the tools and equipment are in working order and available when needed. Must be willing to join IBEW Local Union 347.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assume complete responsibility for all aspects of the Tool Department
- Manage the tool department to make sure tools and equipment are in working order and available when needed
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly checked and inspected in the tool department and at jobsite in compliance with OSHA standards and requirements
- Manage location of tools at various jobsites and inspect tools and equipment; (OSHA requirement), to be compliant with OSHA standards and requirements
- Develop and maintain tool inventory company wide
- Keep tool department clean and orderly
- Comply with all Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs as established.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Division Manager / Executive Team with recommendations for resolution.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by executives.

Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge):
- Minimum 1-3 years related experience
- High School diploma or GED required
- Familiarity and experience with Electrical Lineman tools and equipment
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license
- Have an excellent attitude towards safety and firm adherence to safety protocols, Company operating policies, procedures, OSHA, and safety programs as established
Required Attributes and Competencies (Skills):
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook and Excel formulas and formatting
- Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web based applications, include ERP systems or other construction/financial software packages
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs
- Must demonstrate integrity, honesty, professionalism and commitment to company values
- Must have ability to build positive working relationships with multiple levels of employees, management, suppliers, and customers
- Must have excellent organizational, communication, strategic, technical, analytical, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
- Must demonstrate ability to effectively organize and manage multiple projects and to meet frequent deadlines
- Must have high standards of quality with attention to detail
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, effectively in the English language

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves twenty-five (25) to fifty (50) pounds. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move fifty (50) pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee may be required to commute to field locations and project sites and be able to navigate around the job site locations.
Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee will regularly work in typical shop environment conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee will also frequently work at construction field sites when visiting field locations.
While visiting field locations, the employee may be required to be outdoors, exposed to outside weather conditions, extended exposure to sunlight, moisture, cold and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
