A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) to join their growing team at one of their group homes on Staten Island.
About the Opportunity:

Setting: Article 16 Clinic / Group Homes
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 9am to 5pm or 8am to 4pm
Patient Population: Adults (Ages 18+)
EMR: PrecisionCare

Responsibilities:
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) will:

Review medical records, verify MDs orders and the Occupational therapists assessment prior to implementing OT treatment
Communicatewith supervisor regarding persons receiving services in the areas of cognitive/perceptual skills, sensor-motor, musculoskeletal status, CNS status, the use of assistive technology and adaptive equipment needs
Integrateinput from persons receiving services, family, and direct care staff in treatment
Writespecific, objective, and measurable documentation,
Providetraining to persons receiving services, families and/or direct care staff in specific supportive programs
Participateand attendcare plan/team meetings as needed for persons receiving OT services
Implementa treatment plan, generated by the OT, includingROM, therapeutic exercise, cognitive/perceptual re-training, ADL, wheelchair mobility, pre-vocational skills, and application of physical agent modalities: hot packs, cold packs, and paraffin
Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy school
NYS Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant(COTA) license

Desired Skills:

Experience with Wheelchair assessment
Experience working with people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
