Application Specialist - Sales Engineer

The Application Specialist serves as a primary technical resource for the sales team, actively driving and managing the application evaluation stage of the sales process. This role involves reviewing and interpreting customer technical requirements and specifications, with a comprehensive understanding of quarter-turn valve and actuation products. The primary focus is on preparing accurate quotations and ensuring clear communication of requirements between customers and internal departments. The Specialist will identify and provide reliable solutions for all applications, ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the sales process.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with sales and technical inquiries, building strong relationships.
• Act as the primary technical resource and product advocate for the sales team and customers.
• Review and interpret customer technical requirements and project specifications.
• Conduct design reviews and perform calculations using engineering tools and programs.
• Perform cost vs. performance analysis to offer customers the best value for their budget.
• Maintain and continually improve knowledge and expertise of core products, including operating principles, best use practices, and basic troubleshooting.
• Stay informed about industry best practices and competitors' products.
• Go above and beyond to find solutions to customers' problems.

Essential Skills

• Engineering, sales, and mechanical application engineering expertise.
• Customer service and sales proficiency.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• High attention to detail and self-motivation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine root causes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
• 1-2 years of engineering or technical sales experience preferred.
• Proficient math and reading skills, including basic statistics.
• Proficient computer competency.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office setting, working 5 days a week from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The work environment is fast-paced and business casual. The role requires a willingness to learn quickly.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wentzville, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
