We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Mars Surface and Mars Transit to join the team with Nexus, a teammate company.

The Systems Engineer - Mars Surface and Mars Transit will:

  Responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.

• n

  Generating the Concept of Operations (ConOps).

  n
n
• n

  Prepares materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR) and presents the material.

• n

  Identifies risks, develops risk statements, and plans risk responses.

  n
n
• n

  Performs and reviews system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.

  n

• n

  Develops certification and acceptance test plans.

  n
n
• n

  Supports Test and Verification (T&V) activities.

  n
n
• n

  Tracks and organizes materials for project meetings and reviews.

  n
n
• n

  Identifies and engages with stakeholders.

  n
n
• n

  Works in a small team environment, and reports to project manager for technical support, task assignment, and processes.

  n
n
• n

  Performs job functions based on pre-established guidelines or instructions.

  n

• n

  Perform other duties as required.

  Maintains a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.

Requisition Qualifications:

  Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  BS degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school and at least two years of relevant experience. This position is posted at multiple levels.

  Experience with the development of space systems requirements documents including the Project Technical Requirements Specification (PTRS) and Verification and Validation documents (V&VD), and Interface Control Document (ICD).

  n

• n

  Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.

  n

• n

  Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.

  n
n
• n

  Familiarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products.

  n
n

Requisition Preferences:

  Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware.

  Experience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes.

• n

  INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification.

  n

• n

  Working knowledge of NASA and JSC standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplines.

• n

  Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and typical systems engineering products.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
