Position Summary: The System Director of Laboratory Services has system-wide responsibility for the development and maintenance of the Clinical Laboratory services by managing the related administrative responsibilities, leading major initiatives, coordinating the analyses of business opportunities and assessing their effectiveness and consistency with the strategic objectives of the Hartford HealthCare system. Key Accountabilities: * Responsible for assisting the Clinical Laboratory Services leadership in the development and coordinated implementation of strategies to support short- and long-term business development and initiatives * Develops and maintains a multi-year project plan, translating it for colleagues across the business unit and establishing greater transparency and accountability for stakeholders carrying out the strategies. Aligns and cascades goals from scorecard to focused and prioritized work, mobilizing resources to execute goals * Formulates and recommends annual operating and capital budgeting and staffing to senior management and finance. Negotiates equipment and services contracts with third party vendors. Monitors and manages departmental budgets, seeking ways to control or lower costs while achieving overall quality and service goals * Assists with feasibility studies and planning efforts. Responsible for directing and coordinating the planning evaluation and implementation of new services and programs analyses of existing services and needs to develop and recommend short and long-term goals and plans * Participates in continuous improvement and innovation activities, recommend changes to products, services technology or processes to create value for patients, customers, clients and stakeholders * Uses practical methodology to lead change, delivering the message or vision for change to everyone affected, finding practical ways to overcome barriers to change * Ensures activities comply with policies and procedures according to the organization and legal requirements * Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field * Five plus years of progressive laboratory leadership experience * ASCP Certification in a clinical laboratory specialty * Ability to champion new initiatives and enlist others to commit to meaningful change by motivating them to remain open minded and welcoming to change.
