We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Survey Crew Chief to join our team for a long-term position. You will be responsible for conducting construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys. After becoming a permanent employee, you will also perform ALTA surveys. This role involves working with an instrument operator in a two-person crew and occasionally working solo. You will utilize Trimble equipment, including GPS base and rover units, VRS networks, robotic total stations, digital levels, TSC7 data collectors, and TBC processing software.

Responsibilities

• Conduct construction layouts, as-built surveys, topographic surveys, and boundary surveys.
• Perform ALTA surveys upon becoming a permanent employee.
• Work in a two-person crew with an instrument operator and occasionally solo.
• Utilize Trimble equipment and software for surveying tasks.
• Participate in commercial, industrial, multifamily, and pedestrian trail projects.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of professional experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
• Experience with construction layout, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and ALTA surveys.
• Proficiency with total station, GPS, and land survey software.
• Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and have a good driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in route survey and construction stakeout is advantageous.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage projects efficiently.

Work Environment

The Survey Crew Chief will work primarily in the field, traveling directly from home to job sites, providing significant autonomy. Work is mainly local to Central Indiana with minimal overnight travel. A company vehicle, gas card, cell phone, and laptop are provided. The role offers a flexible work schedule, competitive healthcare benefits, and emphasizes work/life balance. Current crew chiefs average 40-45 hours per week, starting around 7:30 AM, with earlier starts possible in summer. Office visits are required as needed to meet with project managers and team members.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
