Hours per Week: 40 hours

Schedule: 10 hour shifts Monday-Friday; 7a-5:30p or 9a-7:30p

Sign-On Bonus: Up to $7,500

SUMMARY:

Join our dynamic surgical team at Unity Hospital! As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and success of surgical operations. You will be the primary scrub tech, managing instruments, supplies, and equipment with utmost attention to sterilization practices throughout each procedure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain at least 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) annually.
• Check and prepare all necessary supplies, instrumentation, and equipment for surgical procedures, ensuring their proper function.
• Establish and sustain a sterile field for all surgical procedures, assisting with patient draping to secure the operative site.
• Adhere to aseptic techniques and communicate any concerns to the surgical team.
• Efficiently pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures.
• Accurately count sponges and sharps with the RN before the surgery begins and before closing the incision.
• Prepare sterile dressings for the patient's incision.
• Stock operating rooms and manage medications, sharps, and syringes as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of a military surgical technology program -OR-
• Certified Surgical Technologist certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required along with a degree in Surgical Technology -OR- evidence of surgical technologist employment for a year during the specified timeframe -OR- a Health Care Facility's ability to contract with individuals meeting less than the standard qualifications due to staffing needs.
• Surgical Technologist Certification must be obtained through NBSTSA within 24 months of employment, with a degree from an accredited program required.
• Candidates with current LPN licensure in the State of New York are exempt from needing Surgical Technologist Certification.

NEW GRADUATES:

• Official transcripts or confirmation from the school's registrar's office stating program completion will be accepted for new graduates.
• Primary source education verification is necessary within 90 days of the start date.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is categorized as Medium Work, requiring the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, and/or negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent walking, standing, or squatting is also necessary.

PAY RANGE:

$27.50 - $33.50

This pay range represents a good faith estimate of the potential pay for successful full-time applicants and may be modified. Pay determination includes experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, and location.
