Position Highlights

You will work Monday - Friday with occasional weekends, holidays, or on-call shifts, totaling 80 hours in a two-week period.

A Brief Overview

As a Surgical Technician Trainee, you will perform essential surgical technician and sterile processing duties while pursuing certification, all within the scope of your training and current competencies. You will assist healthcare team members in delivering quality care during surgical procedures.

• Assist surgeons by providing necessary instruments during procedures smoothly and accurately. Conduct all suture and instrument counts without error.
• Support the daily testing and operations of sterilizers, keeping records of performance. Clean and decontaminate instruments and equipment following established protocols.
• Document cleaning processes for terminal cleans and maintain proper turnover times each month.
• Store and check products systematically, managing outdated supplies effectively.
• Monitor inventory levels and alert the director about back-ordered products within a week of ordering.
• Understand the handling and care of all equipment in the instrument decontamination room, adhering to specific handling instructions.
• Prepare and wrap instrument and supply packs for distribution, ensuring that they are sterile and labeled accurately.
• Communicate and educate the OR staff about new instrumentation and processing techniques.

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

• 1-3 years of previous healthcare experience
