Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Sumo Medical Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon to work locum shifts in Cumberland, Maryland (MD). Starting November 2025 , the role offers ongoing work with a competitive market rate and benefits.

The Cardiothoracic Surgery role:

• Shifts:
• 24-hour call (7a-7a) or 12-hour night call (7p-7a)
• All-inclusive call rates (callback included)

• Critical Dates of Coverage:
• November 26-30, 2025
• December 26, 2025 - January 5, 2026
• Plus one week per month ongoing

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Morning rounding with PA (2-4 hours depending on surgical volume)
• Procedures as needed throughout the day
• Consults handled by PA and discussed with physician as needed
• Surgeon contacted only for urgent/emergent issues
• No onsite presence required after rounding
• APP/Mid-level coverage available (7a-7a shifts)
• PAs perform Endovascular Saphenous Vein Harvesting (EVH)

Typical Cases:

• Open Heart Surgery
• Carotid Procedures
• Occasional Lung Cases
• Required Procedure: Bypass Surgery
• EMR: Meditech

Requirements of the role:

• MD state license; active, unrestricted or IMLC, (LOQ in hand)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible American Board of Thoracic Surgery
• MD DEA and CSR required
• Minimum 2 years experience.
