Position Summary

Under the supervision of a scientist in the In Vivo Pharmacology team, the intern will gain a good understanding of preclinical testing of novel T cell-based immunotherapies. They will learn techniques including but not limited to T cell culture and engineering, T cell phenotyping and cytotoxicity assay setup, ex vivo tissue analysis. These efforts will support a cell therapy program by providing valuable insights into engineered T cell activity. The qualified intern will collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and specialties gaining insight into many fields within the pharmaceutical industry.

The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026. Key Responsibilities

• Learn and apply aseptic technique to culture mammalian cells, including primary mouse and human T cells and mouse and human tumor cell lines.
• Learn to engineer and phenotype mouse and human T cells using flow cytometry; measure engineered T cell function in real time cytotoxicity assays using fluorescently labeled target cells.
• Learn the breadth of preclinical tumor models and assist with ex vivo testing of novel T cell-based therapies.
• Learn how to process tissues for flow cytometric analysis.
• Record experimental design and findings in an electronic lab notebook.
• Present project progress and findings at team and departmental meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

• Candidates must be enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Biology (e.g. Immunology or Cell Biology), Biochemistry, Biological Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Candidates should have basic laboratory skills (lab course, academic lab, or industry lab)
• Candidates should have effective communication skills (written and verbal), and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.
