Position Summary

Discover Biotherapeutics (DBTx) & Leads Discovery & Optimization (LDO) is a dynamic, innovative organization that leverages state-of-the-art technologies and broad scientific expertise to evaluate therapeutic candidates and deliver comprehensive in vitro datasets across all stages of drug discovery at Bristol Myers Squibb. The Chemical Biology team in DBTx-LDO Cambridge is seeking a highly motivated undergraduate scientist for a 10-week internship in Summer 2026. The successful candidate will generate data to help the team drive innovation in several core areas, including new target identification, target engagement and mechanism deconvolution, and the evaluation and advancement of novel drug discovery modalities. Primary responsibilities will include the development, optimization, and execution of induced proximity assays, alongside molecular biology techniques such as cell line characterization and Western blotting.

The full-time internship will take place June - August 2026. Key Responsibilities

• Perform cell-based studies using a variety of laboratory techniques, including mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, induced proximity assays, and genetic engineering (stable and transient transfections)
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of chemical biologists, chemists, biochemists, and proteomics experts to develop new technologies and discover new targets
• Maintain thorough scientific records and present at group meetings

Qualifications & Experience

• Two years of cell biology and/or molecular biology course work at the college level, a strong academic record (? 3.0 GPA), and at least three semesters of laboratory course work and/or research
• Trained in molecular and cell biology
• Experience independently generating reliable data and performing data analysis
• Hands-on experience in cell culture and characterization of cells from human and animal tissues is desired
• Self-motivated to learn and contribute, demonstrated examples of independent productivity and team-based interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication, record keeping, presentation, collaboration and organizational skills
• Enthusiasm for science, laboratory work, and drug discovery
• Prior laboratory experience in an academic setting and/or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry

All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $29.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.
