The Structural Engineer will be required to demonstrate a high standard of professionalism and client focus/customer service; be resourceful and flexible, effective at handling multiple tasks; have good computer skills; have strong presentation, written, and verbal skills; and be able to effectively delegate or be delegated to while working in a collaborative format with multiple team members.

Responsibilities

  Provide value to our clients by evaluating options based upon the client's needs and desires, first cost, and life cycle cost.

• n

  Communicate your design recommendations to our clients, project team, construction contractors, and vendors in presentations, meetings, via email, and phone as necessary.

• n

  Work alone on projects or work on a project team with other technical staff to design and detail the new structural systems that are needed.

  n

• n

  Assure work is accurate and coordinated, and that the quality assurance measures have been followed.

  n
n
• n

  Provide timely services that meet the needs of the clients and the overall project schedule requirements.

  n

• n

  Maintain appropriate contact with our existing clients so that they think of our firm when services are needed.

• n

  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

n
• n

  Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on Structures

  n
n
• n

  5+ years of experience in the design of industrial, power generation, facilities, and structures

  n
n
• n

  Working knowledge of Structural Analysis and Design Software (specifically RAM suite preferred

  n
n
• n

  BIM strategies using Revit and Navisworks

  n
n
• n

  PE License (or on path to obtain)

  n
n
• n

  Background check with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

  n
n

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

n
• n

  Ability to travel to client locations as needed

  n
n
• n

  Strong written and verbal communication

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of computer operations and software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)

  n
n
• n

  Ability to lead the pursuit of projects for new and existing clients by meeting with them to discuss the projects, conducting presentations, and writing proposals.

• n

  Ability to provide technical assessments of potential project opportunities to aid in project go/no-go decisions.

  n

• n

  Ability to lead and oversee the work of other engineers and designers as a Project Design Lead or a Project Manager to develop project deliverables.

• n

  Ability to perform structural analysis and design calculations following office structural design standards.

• n

  Ability to stay abreast of new design and analysis technologies and building materials through continuing education activities. Specific design-related services include:

  Building foundation design, including shallow and deep foundations

  n

• n

  Concrete pit and trench design

  n
n
• n

  Soil retention design, including those for temporary construction

  n
n
• n

  Slab on grade and elevated slab design

  n
n
• n

  Equipment lifting design and layout

  n
n
• n

  Fall protection design for general industry and construction

  n
n
• n

  Building design using steel, concrete, masonry, and wood

  n
n
• n

  Connection design

  n
n
• n

  Equipment support design and layout

  n
n
• n

  Mechanical process piping supports.

  n

• n

  Develop specification documents

  n
n
