Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a dedicated healthcare provider responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients in a post-surgery telemetry oncology setting. This vital role involves the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and collaboration with healthcare team members to ensure the well-being of patients.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conduct ongoing assessments and data collection, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive statuses, as well as nutrition, pain management, patient/family education, and advocacy.
- Develop and implement a goal-directed plan of care tailored to patient needs.
- Provide care with skill, consistency, and thoroughness.
- Prioritize patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
- Identify and address patient/family learning needs proactively.
- Respect and uphold the rights and beliefs of patients and families.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members and communicate clearly.
- Delegate duties appropriately and oversee the care delivered by team members.
- Utilize effective communication techniques across various channels.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles relevant to patient care.
- Act efficiently in emergency situations, following established protocols.
- Take responsibility for your professional practice and continuous improvement.
- Participate in staff development and performance improvement initiatives.
- Engage in nursing research and problem-solving activities.
- Provide necessary data for staffing decisions and adapt to staffing challenges.
- Demonstrate proficiency with electronic medical records and computing applications.
- Perform additional related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
- Education:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program and completion of clinical requirements.
- Alternatively, graduation from a licensed vocational nursing program with relevant acute care experience.
- License, Certification, Registration:
- Registered Nurse License (California).
- Acquire Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
- Strong commitment to service orientation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Be prepared to undergo training for specific specialties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
This position is located at Santa Clara Hospital, with hours set at 24 per week. Shifts are scheduled for nights, with specific workdays outlined for two-week periods.
