Staff Nurse II - Post-Surgery Telemetry Oncology Specialist

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a dedicated healthcare provider responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients in a post-surgery telemetry oncology setting. This vital role involves the therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, and collaboration with healthcare team members to ensure the well-being of patients.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Conduct ongoing assessments and data collection, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive statuses, as well as nutrition, pain management, patient/family education, and advocacy.
• Develop and implement a goal-directed plan of care tailored to patient needs.
• Provide care with skill, consistency, and thoroughness.
• Prioritize patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
• Identify and address patient/family learning needs proactively.
• Respect and uphold the rights and beliefs of patients and families.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members and communicate clearly.
• Delegate duties appropriately and oversee the care delivered by team members.
• Utilize effective communication techniques across various channels.
• Demonstrate knowledge of safety principles relevant to patient care.
• Act efficiently in emergency situations, following established protocols.
• Take responsibility for your professional practice and continuous improvement.
• Participate in staff development and performance improvement initiatives.
• Engage in nursing research and problem-solving activities.
• Provide necessary data for staffing decisions and adapt to staffing challenges.
• Demonstrate proficiency with electronic medical records and computing applications.
• Perform additional related duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience: A minimum of six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
• Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program and completion of clinical requirements.
  • Alternatively, graduation from a licensed vocational nursing program with relevant acute care experience.
• License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Nurse License (California).
  • Acquire Advanced Cardiac Life Support within six months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of the RN scope of practice.
• Strong commitment to service orientation.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Be prepared to undergo training for specific specialties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
This position is located at Santa Clara Hospital, with hours set at 24 per week. Shifts are scheduled for nights, with specific workdays outlined for two-week periods.
