The Kuiper team is looking for an exceptional Senior Packaging Engineer to join our team and drive standardization and efficiency for product packaging in our supply chain. The Sr. Packaging Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Global Commodity Management, Supplier Quality Management, and Operations teams in the US and abroad to define efficient, robust, and standardized packaging for our products. You will be a critical escalation path for packaging issues and work closely with partner teams to ensure cross-functional collaboration is effective.

Key job responsibilities

n
• n

  Partner with operations to identify packaging/labeling defects impacting operations, including safety hazards created by packaging.

  n
n
• n

  Manage the development of Packaging concepts with Packaging Vendors and Component part Suppliers, ensuring material conformity and personnel safety.

  n

• n

  Manage the development of packaging concepts for kitting at distribution center and shadow foam solutions for final delivery of parts to manufacturing.

  n

• n

  Plan and direct activities concerned with design and development of packaging. Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of component, special handling and safety requirements.

  Create detailed packaging specifications for both components and manufacturing kits, including clean room compliance.

• n

  Define standard labeling and barcoding specifications and partner with supply chain to drive adoption by suppliers. Monitor adherence to standards and drive corrective actions as appropriate.

  Scope new technology and/or opportunities in the packaging space.

Basic Qualifications

n
• n

  Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.

  n
n
• n

  5+ years of professional experience in manufacturing.

  n
n
• n

  1+ years of experience working with CAD/CAM software (e.g. NX, Solidworks, CATIA, AutoCAD)

  n
n
• n

  3+ years' experience with clean room packaging requirements.

  n
n
• n

  Knowledge of ISTA test protocols.

  n
n
• n

  Understanding of packaging testing, materials, and processes.

  n
n

Preferred Qualifications

  Proven track record of creative package design.

  Experience designing packaging for large metallic components.

• n

  Knowledge of sustainability, recycling, and regulations.

  Industry association, participation.

  Experience in Aerospace, Automotive, and/or Consumer Electronics industries.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
