Position Overview
The Financial Planning and Reporting Systems Sr Manager leads a team responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technology and processes that enhance financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for CRH Americas Materials (AMAT). This role partners with corporate finance to improve the accuracy, speed, and efficiency of reporting, budgeting, and forecasting using both existing and new technologies. Key responsibilities include providing overall leadership to a dedicated team, guiding both day-to-day operations and the development of our long-term strategy for financial reporting. The manager oversees the performance of systems such as Hyperion Financial Management, Hyperion Planning, and EPM, ensuring these platforms align with strategic objectives while maintaining a strong customer focus. Additionally, the manager collaborates cross-functionally with AMAT Corporate Finance, Regional Finance, FP&A teams, and IT to identify and deploy improved process solutions.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Manage the resources and allocation of their time
- Develop and mentor direct reports, building a top performing team (attract and keep talent)
- Ensure effective cross training of team members
- Ensure process documentation is developed and maintained up to date
- Look for shift left opportunities to move repetitive activities to the service desk
- Encourage stretch goals to continually grow the talent and behaviors of the team to align with CRH values
Act as a key stakeholder in the planning and definition of Financial Planning and Reporting systems (Financial Reporting, Budgeting, Forecasting) and work with our finance teams to:
- Identify key processes that reside in financial systems to efficiently execute the financial planning, forecasting, and reporting functions.
- Understand the existing financial consolidation and month end close reporting processes and work with key stakeholders to define and develop the future state.
- Provide direction on how to leverage Oracle EPM's out of the box functionality, while enabling flexibility and adaptability within the application to support AMAT financial reporting to capture the most benefits.
Responsible for the System Development, Deployment and Maintenance of Financial Planning and Reporting systems.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of Americas Materials financial reporting systems, including but not limited to Hyperion financial management, Hyperion Planning and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management;
- Responsible for the ownership of the consolidation framework that ensures accurate consolidation and financial reporting;
- Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and related cross mappings between financial systems;
- Support system activities around forecast, budget, volumes, and acquisition tracking systems to ensure functionality supports business needs
- Identify and resolve issues critical to operational success.
Drive efficiency in FP&A processes by:
- Deploying technology to drive automation and best practices with forecasting and planning processes
- Solve key business problems and challenges by enabling business transformation and charting a journey from the current consolidation state to a "to-be" enterprise environment
- Support improved processes through Identification of opportunities to bring innovative technology solutions (e.g., Cloud, RPA, Blockchain, AI, etc.)
- Stay on top of current regulations, trends, and technologies influencing finance consolidation, analytics, and the financial reporting ecosystem
Project Management and Delivery
- Oversee and manage IT projects and design of the systems within the Financial Planning and Reporting Environment. This will require cross functional coordination with our AMAT finance teams and our IT teams.
- Lead the transition of Hyperion Planning and HFM to the new Oracle EPM cloud based environment. All current functionality is expected to transition to the new environment, including FCCS, PBCS, Capex, Acquisitions/Divestments, Strategic Planning and Reporting.
- Prioritize and delegate projects and tasks for the team.
- Ensure transparency and accountability for tasks and deliverables
- Effectively communicate project risks/issues with proposed solutions
- Remove roadblocks and take ownership for driving the successful execution of projects
Communication of key business and technical concepts transparently and timely in a manner that is audience appropriate.
Responsible for Vendor relationship management when dealing with the Financial Planning and Reporting systems solutions
Ensure SOX compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation and providing recommendations
Qualifications
- Ability to manage, motivate and influence a team
- Expertise in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Hyperion Planning and Oracle Enterprise Performance Management; Essbase, Smartview
- Experience in complex consolidation, COA design, joint venture accounting.
- At least 10+ years' experience in EPM Cloud/Essbase, Hyperion Planning or Hyperion Financial Management
- Accounting, Finance Hands on experiences.
- Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills
- Working knowledge of financial ERP's and other financial systems to drive execution of forecasting and planning processes:
- Strong knowledge of FP&A processes for corporate organizations
- Experience of design and implementation of Planning applications a plus
- Must be highly skilled in Excel and Hyperion or other Multi-Dimensional consolidation software; Oracle Data Integration (ODI), FDM, MS SQL Server experience a plus
- Must manage complexity and be able to multi-task, be detailed oriented and possess strong organizational skills
Work Requirements
- Must have expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Must be 18 years in age or older
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check

- Willingness to work independently within a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required
- Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required
