Title: Senior Histotechnician

Shift hours: Day Shift: 11:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m., rotating weekends and holidays, Note: This schedule may adjust as it aligns with a new service line. Flexibility is valued while determining the most efficient start time.

Overview:

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a Senior Histotechnician to join its specialized pathology team. In this role, you'll work with advanced diagnostic techniques that support accurate detection and treatment of complex diseases if you are interested in learning more plase apply !

Responsibilities

• Provide independent technical leadership, consulting with the histology leadership team on unusual or complex cases.

• Serve as a resource to others regarding procedural and technical information.

• Provide ongoing training, orientation and instruction to histology team members and students.

• Understands CoPath related to Histology workflow.

• Progresses towards working independently in an advanced staining area. Performs QC checks at each phase of processing/ staining

• Processes and prepares surgical and autopsy tissue specimens for embedding, cutting, staining and coverslipping.

• Embeds and cuts specialized tissue based on location including minute biopsy protocols.

• Ensures all tissues are embedded and cut according to department-specific protocols with proper orientation and complete sections including no folds, chatter, artifacts, or floaters.

• Accurately prepares slides for microtomy using the barcode label in order to maintain correct patient identification throughout the process.

• Maintains instruments following quality control specifications and daily maintenance protocols.

• Performs additional tasks such as filing, cleaning, stocking supplies.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited HT program within the last 5 years OR an Associate's degree or at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a regionally accredited college/university with a combination of 12 semester hours of biology and chemistry.

• 1 year of clinical histology laboratory experience post-training with certification OR 3 years of experience working as Histology Lab Technician or equivalent title without certification.

• ASCP certification is required within 18 months of hire.

Additional Requirements for Sr. Histotechnician:

• 2 years of clinical histology laboratory experience post-training with Histotechnician- HT (ASCP) certification is required or 3 years of experience without certification.
