Position Summary

We at Bristol Myers Squibb are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Discovery Immunology team in Lawrenceville, NJ. The successful candidate will contribute directly to the generation and optimization of target validation assays relevant to autoimmune diseases, with a specific focus on the complex crosstalk between epithelial, endothelial, and fibroblast cells in autoimmune diseases. This role is central to developing, refining, and applying cell-based and advanced 3D culture systems to accurately model disease processes and cellular crosstalk. The candidate will apply and expand expertise in cell and 3D culture systems, using gene/protein expression, ECM deposition, and fluorescence imaging assays to validate target biology and investigate cell-cell dynamics in these multifaceted systems. Additionally, opportunities are available to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, gain insight into the drug discovery process, and drive meaningful progress in the development of novel therapeutic strategies for autoimmune diseases.

The full-time co-op will take place January - June 2026. Key Responsibilities

• Culture and maintenance of primary mammalian epithelial, endothelial and stromal cells and 3D culture systems.
• Investigate novel target biology in primary in vitro co-culture assays, and 3D culture systems employing cell-based biochemical assays.
• Learn and optimize immunofluorescence assays for analysis of stromal cells in the context of inflammation and fibrotic stimulus.
• Maintain an electronic record of all experiments and resulting data.
• Analyze, compile, and present results when necessary to the appropriate forums.

Qualifications & Experience

• Completed 2+ years of a relevant life science undergraduate degree or be enrolled in a relevant graduate level degree program that approves a co-op experience at BMS.
• Graduation Date must be later than August 2026.
• Prior relevant research experience required, preferably in mammalian tissue culture. Must be willing to work with primary human and mouse tissues.
• Possess a high level of critical thinking, high energy, independence, a strong desire to learn new techniques, and the ability to work in a highly dynamic research organization.
• Able to commit to continuous full-time employment from January-July.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
• All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Please note that immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This is a temporary, time-bound position intended for the duration of the internship or co-op program. Employment in this role does not imply or guarantee ongoing or permanent employment with BMS.

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $35.00/hr. Please note that the final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by your employer of record (and not BMS). Factors influencing this decision may include the characteristics of the assignment, such as demonstrated experience, required skill, and the geographic location of the job. Compensation details are subject to change.
