Speech Pathologist Assistant

The Speech Pathologist Assistant provides coordinated speech therapy assistance with a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist.

Essential Job Functions:

• Administers the speech therapy treatment plan as developed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
• Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities.
• Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with the education and competence to care for the patients.
• Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills.
• Meets mandatory continuing education requirements.
• Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third party payers, through education, coaching and other assistance as necessary.
• Demonstrates commitment, professional growth and competency.
• Performs other related duties and activities as required.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required by the Job:

• Graduate of an accredited school of speech therapy assistant with a Bachelors Degree.
• One year experience as a Speech Therapy Assistant in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.
• Pediatric and Home Health experience preferred.

• Current Texas State License to practice speech therapy.

• Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies. Good interpersonal skills.

• Travel as needed.

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
