I. Major Responsibilities:

• Conducts diagnostic evaluations of various communication disorders in both children and adults.
• Provides remedial treatment in both individual and group settings for children and adults with the above communication and swallowing disorders.
• Recommends, designs, and/or implements augmentative methods of communication.
• Provides information about the communication disorders to patients, families and others.
• Designs and establishes home programs and other activities which may be used for carryover or reinforcement of the therapy program.
• Maintains records and reports necessary to the conduct of treatment.
• Confers with other individuals and/or agencies involved with the patient's program.

Standard Staffing Level Responsibilities:

• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
• Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
• Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
• Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
• Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
• Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

• License/Certification/Education: Required: Master's Degree in Speech Pathology, Current MA Speech Pathology license, Member of ASHA (American Speech Hearing Association).
• Experience/Skills: Required: Attainment of the certificate of clinical competence. Effective verbal and written communication skill; demonstrated clinical knowledge. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

III. Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

• Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a normal office and patient care environment.
