Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. The Special Education Teacher has a commitment to team participation in planning and implementation of student programs including special instruction, tutorial assistance and consultation with general education staff.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university preferred
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
• Minimum of one year experience in teaching environment preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Elementary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Secondary Teaching preferred
• State Teacher Certification; Type: Standard Special Teaching preferred
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred
• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
• Current CPR if applicable
• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age

General Comments

We have a staffing need at Fife Elementary School. We are looking for a Full time Special Education Teacher for one of our life skills classrooms. This classroom is for students with more complex needs and can encompass students grades K-5 (although it is typically more 2-4). There are two other teachers at FES that teach life skills classes so there is a great team. This classroom can have up to 10 students, but typically stays between 6-10. There are two program paras and possibly a 1:1 para support as well.

Fife's school hours are 8:30-4:00 (non-paid 30 min lunch) and includes daily planning. We can add time (with pre-approval) to attend IEP meetings and such.
