Special Education Teacher Opening Life Skills Focus (K5, Primarily K3)

We're currently seeking a passionate and qualified Special Education Teacher to join a supportive team in Indianapolis for the upcoming school year. This position includes a Life Skills classroom opening, serving students in grades K5, with a primary focus on K3 learners.

Position Details:

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Role: Special Education Resource Teacher + Life Skills (K5, mostly K3)

Pay Rate: $40 per hour + Full Benefits

Start Date: 2 weeks after offer

Schedule: Full academic year

Responsibilities:

The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students, kindergarten through grade 12. This includes:

• Delivering specialized instruction in Life Skills for K5 students
• Collaborating with general education staff
• Providing tutorial assistance and consultation
• Participating in IEP development and implementation

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract/district regulations
• Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment (preferred)
• State Teacher Certification: Standard Elementary, Secondary, or Special Teaching (preferred)
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred)
• Current CPR certification (if applicable)
• TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray (if applicable)
• Current Health Certificate (per contract or state regulation)
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
• Must be at least 18 years of age
