Leidos is excited to announce an opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on the design, development, and implementation of innovative space-based sensor test equipment. This role, based in Huntsville, will have you performing a variety of test activities on the cutting-edge electrical systems and electronics integral to our IR Payloads. You will engage in hands-on troubleshooting, integration of subsystems, designing and building test stands and fixtures, writing detailed test procedures, executing tests, and analyzing data. Additionally, you will play a key role in a collaborative engineering environment which fosters skill development across various technologies. We are looking for a proactive and motivated individual who thrives in a practical, hands-on setting aiming for both technical and leadership growth.
The ideal candidate should have a solid grasp of circuit design, ranging from compact PCBs to mixed analog and digital hardware systems. Proficiency in test setup, analysis, and documentation for power, thermal, and mechanical testing is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and execute subsystem and system test operations based on established requirement specifications and subsystem designs.
- Adhere to engineering, lab, and safety standards while assisting engineers with system testing and documentation efforts. Contribute to the creation of test procedures and the refinement of best practices.
- Conduct functional, electrical, environmental, and requirements verification tests at both the subsystem and payload system levels.
- Collect, analyze, and report on test data to support thorough evaluations.
- Integrate and troubleshoot subsystems and payload systems employing modern tools, encompassing electronics, electro-mechanical components, and software technologies.
- Create, maintain, and implement configuration control for test automation software.
- Collaborate with Hardware and Software Design Engineers to design, build, and verify specialized test equipment.
- Oversee test setup and configurations.
- Lead product design reviews, contributing valuable insights regarding testability.
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience or M.S. degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience with digital and analog hardware design, PCB technology, assembly, integration, and testing of boards and systems.
- Familiarity with PCB design and layout tools and CAD software.
- Experience collaborating within a cross-functional team, including PCB layout, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and quality engineering.
- Skilled in developing test plans, executing validation and test procedures, assessing test results, performing analysis, and composing technical reports.
- Knowledgeable in using various hardware debugging equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a DoD SECRET clearance.
- Willingness to travel (10%) to customer or subcontractor locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in space concepts along with understanding algorithm implementation and integration of hardware/software.
- Understanding of factors affecting space-based sensor accuracy (e.g., earth curvature, clutter).
- Familiarity with space-based sensor accuracies covering stare and bias errors, line of sight errors, and 3D localization accuracies.
- Advanced degree (Masters or higher) in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
- Strong foundational knowledge in modeling, simulation, and algorithm development.
- Proficiency in using Altium for PCB design and layout.
- Programming skills in C/C++, Java, Visual Basic, Python, or MATLAB.

Pay Range: Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
