Join our exceptional team as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Leidos! We are looking for skilled SREs who are eager to create innovative solutions for our diverse customers. In this role, you'll automate the infrastructure buildout in both cloud and on-premises settings, managing Kubernetes clusters and microservices. You will master and enhance our CI/CD processes and tools used for developing, testing, and deploying solutions in multiple hosting environments, such as AWS, Azure, and VMWare. Expand your technical expertise by learning new technologies to tackle challenges with innovative approaches. Collaborate closely with fellow engineers to share insights and improve team knowledge. Additionally, conduct technical spikes and prototype development to validate product concepts with customers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Analyze metrics from operating systems and applications to optimize performance and resolve issues within microservice systems (cloud and on-premises).
• Collaborate with development teams to enhance service quality through comprehensive testing and release processes.
• Engage in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning.
• Automate and sustain systems and services for optimal functionality.
• Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug critical infrastructure.
• Manage cloud and on-premises environments using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) methodologies.
• Contribute to the design of reusable infrastructure components for secure, highly available architectures supporting cloud-native applications.
• Support CI/CD practices by applying best practices for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and automated software deployments.
• Assess fielded system deployments and integrate continuous improvement across teams.
• Work with engineers to determine the ideal technical design for new product installations and updates.
• Resolve complex technical issues impacting multiple areas or disciplines.
• Communicate and coordinate effectively with internal team members and stakeholders to ensure timely deliverables.
• Collaborate with customers to make informed technical design decisions that align with functional and performance requirements.
• Mentor other SREs in the principles of deploying and maintaining mission-critical microservices.
• Assist the field service team by addressing and overcoming technical roadblocks in collaboration with various stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering, with 4+ years of experience in a relevant field, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of experience, along with potential consideration for additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance (US citizenship required).
• Demonstrable experience managing large projects or processes spanning various technical areas.
• Proven experience in a technical lead role.
• Familiarity with Agile Development and CI/CD methodologies and tools.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows operating systems, network administration, and networking protocols (e.g., HTTP, HTTPS, SSL/TLS, SMTP, DNS).
• Expertise in cloud resource management (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
• Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code technologies.
• Proficient in tools like Terraform, Ansible, Helm, BASH Scripting, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, or similar.
• Experience with container technology (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Proven experience with Kubernetes using kubectl.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with API Gateways such as ISTIO.
• Experience with GitOps tools (e.g., Argo CD, Flux CD, Fleet).
• Strong motivation to learn new tools, frameworks, and techniques independently.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Excellent collaboration skills within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Enterprise Event Brokers (e.g., Kafka, NATS).
• Proficiency in using Rancher Harvester virtualization.
• Experience with VMWare vSphere.
• Proficient with monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus).
• Professional certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., Security+ or similar).
• Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies.
• Familiarity with at least one Relational Database Management System (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).

Pay Range: Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00
