Senior Underwriter, Environmental

Overview

The Environmental Team is seeking a Senior Underwriter whose primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks through demonstrated skills in underwriting fundamentals, risk assessment, financial proficiency, marketing and communications, and use of systems and programs.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with Regional Manager, Underwriting Team and other unit and region colleagues
• Execute regional marketing and sales strategies including prospecting, cross-sell and upsell initiatives
• Conduct local and regional agency and broker visitations
• Solicit new and renewal submissions from brokers
• Determine terms, conditions and pricing using approved rating plans, underwriting guidelines and authority structures
• Adhere to all underwriting standards and guidelines as outlined by the Division including applicable Underwriting Guidelines, Authorities and Position Papers
• Bind coverage and ensure accurate and timely policy issuance, premium booking and billing, manuscript forms and endorsement processes, and file construction and documentation
• Document underwriting files thoroughly and accurately
• Handle more complex files and portfolios within underwriting authority

Qualifications

• 3-5 years underwriting or related environmental experience (broking, consulting, engineering, etc.)
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of insurance industry
• Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Internet usage
