What You Will Do:
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Systems Administrator to enhance the operational effectiveness of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) within the Office of Scientific Information. This is a full-time role based in Bethesda, MD, and it includes:

• Administering, deploying, patching, and maintaining physical and virtual servers to ensure optimal performance.
• Managing NIH security compliance for all OSI systems.
• Researching and implementing innovative open-source solutions, including cloud-based applications.
• Contributing to the development of tools and applications, such as DIR repository webpages and automated scripts for clinical data retrieval.
• Deploying, supporting, and enhancing third-party software and applications for the DIR.
• Collaborating with the NHLBI/NIH IT organization to improve support services for our scientists.
• Overseeing shared license services and managing a Configuration Management System.
• Engaging in mentoring team members and fostering a collaborative team environment.

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field.
• At least EIGHT (8) years of experience in system administration, software engineering, or project management.
• Proficient in Linux Systems Administration.
• Experience in developing and maintaining software applications.
• Scripting expertise in two or more languages such as Ksh, bash, Perl, Python, R, or PHP.
• Database administration experience with MySQL, MariaDB, or PostgreSQL.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure, including firewalls and remote access.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

What Would Be Great To Have:

• Prior experience with the NIH would be a plus.
• Experience working in a research environment.

The annual salary range for this position is $149,000.00-$248,000.00, based on various factors including skills, experience, and other organizational needs.
