Apex has an opportunity to be a Senior Regulatory Scientist in the Boston area. This is a Permanent position, and the pay rate is flexible depending on experience.

The Senior Regulatory Scientist will ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to product safety and labeling from a global perspective. You will research and interpret regulatory guidelines and standards to provide guidance on product formulation and meet country-specific compliance for nutrition, sustainability and claims. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, supporting nutrition, government affairs, sustainability, and technical aspects of new products. Additionally, you will proactively identify areas of regulatory risk through horizon scanning to guide teams in developing innovative products, preparing to address sustainability programs and navigating the regulatory landscape. Provide regulatory guidance to cross-functional global teams to support product launch in domestic and global businesses for ingredients, beverages foods, including compliance for nutrition, claims and other label information.

Job Duties:

• Effective communication of regulatory and technical issues in lay terms to internal stakeholders and lead/collaborate on efforts to address regulatory challenges.
• Conduct horizon scanning on key topics to identify potential challenges and access impact to the business while ensuring compliance with regulations in current and proposed markets. Support development of strategic direction and tactical plans with cross functional teams to address upcoming regulations of impact to the business
• Provide global regulatory technical support to projects from inception testing through to commercialization or launch by contributing to scientific and regulatory dossiers
• Working knowledge on global general regulations in the area of food, health, toxicology and sustainability. Provide regulatory support to global teams in areas of labels, address questions regarding regulatory issues linked to global partnerships and global sales and marketing.
• Participate as a key member of a cross-function team drafting comments to govt agencies. Provide updates and communication on regulatory challenges and impact to business.
• Participate in external meetings and webinars to gain knowledge and information relevant to the business.
• Develop and/or maintain existing systems and tools, as well as recommend opportunities to enhance and improve processes

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• MS in Nutrition, Food Science, Chemistry or related field and 3+ years of experience
• Results-oriented teammate capable of working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Experience utilizing data collection, analysis, maintenance, application, and refinement methods
• Strong decision maker with capability to make fact-based decisions and influence others
• Strong organizational & analytical skills.
• Experience with MS Office
