Position: Senior Mechanical Engineer for Facilities

Location: Springfield, Virginia.

Clearance Required: TS/SCI with the ability to pass a polygraph.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems from inception through implementation.
• Create and review design documents using AutoCAD, ensuring all specifications are site-specific.
• Collaborate with diverse teams—including electrical, systems, software, and manufacturing—to guarantee mechanical designs fulfill all requirements.
• Perform engineering analyses to validate performance of mechanical designs in real operational conditions.
• Maintain thorough site documentation to support ongoing operations.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve design or maintenance challenges, implementing effective corrective measures.
• Ensure that all work complies with relevant building codes, energy standards, and industry regulations.

Basic Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance and capability to pass a polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 6-10 years; additional experience may substitute for degree.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in the design of mechanical systems, including HVAC and plumbing, for commercial, industrial, or government settings.
• Strong knowledge of building codes, energy regulations, and compliance standards.
• Proficient in conducting heating and cooling load calculations, ductwork design, piping system plans, and equipment selection.
• Expertise in CAD tools, particularly AutoCAD.
• Experience in developing commercial HVAC mechanical systems.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with stakeholders, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Familiarity with Facility Management Control Systems (FMCS).
• Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain it within one year of hiring.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with troubleshooting and repairing control systems.
• Possession of an active polygraph.

Pay Range: Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
