Senior Electrical Engineer (Water)

Job Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Electrical Engineer (Water) role at Jacobs . This role focuses on preparing detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision. You will work with project managers, design staff, and other engineering disciplines to deliver quality work on schedule and within budget. The position is based out of Redding or Sacramento, CA.

Base Pay Range

$132,900.00/yr - $207,650.00/yr

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
• Prepare contract documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Develop low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and battery systems.
• Utilize lighting software for calculations and photometrics.
• Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash).
• Coordinate with Electric Utility Companies for new services as needed.
• Engage in quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates.
• Perform field visits and site investigations for public and private clients.
• Provide construction services including submittal reviews and responses to RFI.
• Help with pursuits, proposals, and multi‑disciplinary collaboration.
• Mentor junior staff and work effectively in a team environment.
• Self‑motivate and manage time effectively without supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Registered California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) or ability to recertify.
• Minimum of 15 years of experience related to the water industry in an electrical engineering role.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software, SKM or ETAP.
• Experience with permitting review agencies.
• Strong time‑management, problem‑solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to interface at all levels of personnel and management.
• Proficiency in NEC, NFPA 820, and IEEE color book series.
• Strong team collaboration and independent work capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater projects via various delivery methods.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Microstation, Revit MEP, and Title 24 compliance.
• Field investigative and startup experience.
