Responsibilities

• The Dosimetrist designs treatment plans by means of computer and/or manual computation to deliver a prescribed radiation dose and field placement technique per the physician's prescription to a defined tumor volume. Considers dose-limiting structures in the design of treatment. Plans and documents dose in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.
• Provides physics and technical support to the relevant staff and faculty, in radiation protection, qualitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of the radiation oncology equipment.
• Assists in the application of specific methods of dosimetry including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurement as directed by the Chief Dosimetrist.
• Assists in intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Certified Medical Dosimetrist issued by MDCB (CMD).
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience required.
• Proficient in 3D, IMRT and treatment planning.
• Must be familiar with the operation of linear accelerators, Simulator, and CT units.
• Demonstrated knowledge of treatment planning systems and departmental R/V systems.
• Strong attention to detail and must possess superior aptitude for producing error-free calculations, so as to not detrimentally affect patient outcomes.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem solving in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of patient care.
• Must possess knowledge and understanding of current practices in radiation therapy, planning, and administration.
• Ability to accurately document patient care activities in accordance with institutional and cancer center guidelines.
• Excellent organizational skills to determine workload priorities to enable timely completion of tasks.
• Ability to effectively communicate and work with medical staff, paramedical staff, patients and patient families.

Special Conditions

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• May need to support several locations on site or via remote access, e.g., La Jolla, Encinitas.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay

Annual Full Pay Range: $169,546 - $210,846 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $81.20 - $100.98

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
