Senior Civil Engineer - Environmental Services (Denver)

Overview

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with related environmental experience to join our Environmental Services global practice engineering team in Englewood, CO. The role involves leading or supporting a wide variety of civil and environmental engineering projects in the waste and energy industries and contributing to implementing department strategy, vision, and culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support engineering teams to deliver well-coordinated, high-quality designs for civil or environmental engineering projects.
• Plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of multidisciplinary projects with varying technical complexity.
• Prepare documentation for design projects, including design criteria, technical letters, memorandums, reports, drawings, detailed design packages, and cost estimates.
• Provide strategic and/or planning services to clients.
• Direct and review work products prepared by junior engineering staff.
• Provide technical leadership and quality reviews aligned with experience.
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule, quality, safety, and client expectations.
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing, contractual, management, and design meetings.
• Champion QA/QC procedures.
• Provide internal training for personnel.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an accredited university.
• P.E. license.
• 8 years of related civil or environmental engineering experience (10 years preferred); consulting experience is preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Experience overseeing construction and strong understanding of construction methods and procedures.
• Project management or assistant project management experience.
• Available for travel as necessary (approximately 10% travel).
• Strong knowledge of standard civil engineering techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, and coworkers.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
