Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Experienced Buyer to support the procurement needs of a growing electronics manufacturing business. This role is perfect for someone eager to take ownership, grow professionally, and help transform a company experiencing significant growth. As a Lead Buyer, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing electronic components, custom mechanical parts, and materials used in PCB assemblies and electronic products.

Responsibilities

• Purchase electronic components, PCBs, mechanical parts, and custom materials.

• Communicate technical requirements to suppliers and ensure deliverables.

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms for cost and delivery optimization.

• Assist in evaluating and onboarding suppliers.

• Identify cost savings through alternative sourcing or supplier negotiations.

• Maintain purchasing records and support supplier audits.

• Address part changes, supplier quality issues, and production needs.

• Manage material shortages and supplier constraints.

Essential Skills

• 3–5 years of experience in purchasing/buying electronic components or similar products.

• Strong negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills.

• Experience using MRP systems for purchasing and inventory management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Exposure to automotive quality systems is a plus.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.

• Experience with both new product introductions and ongoing production support.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, Michigan.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27/hr.
