Overview
CDM Smith's Environmental Services Group is seeking an Engineer, Scientist or Geologist with experience modeling contaminant transport through sediment caps and/or a working knowledge of CAD in remediation projects, combined with basic geotechnical engineering experience related to remediation projects located anywhere within the United States.
The candidate must have demonstrated expertise working independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team on remediation projects for a variety of clients including those in the Federal and Public sector. Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a higher grade level than what is proposed for this advertisement.
Responsibilities
- Understanding the scientific and engineering principles of modeling contaminant fate and transport through sediment caps in subaqueous systems. Experience with CapSim is preferred.
- Using CAD to develop drawings for contaminated sediment dredging and/or soil excavation projects, including the ability to follow direction from a senior engineer with minimal continual oversight.
- Performing slope stability modeling.
- Developing field sampling programs and performing data analyses to support conceptual site models, mass balances, and data-based understanding of fate and transport processes, including interpretation of sediment cores and bathymetric surveys.
- Developing, calibrating, and applying numerical and/or desktop models.
- Evaluating the feasibility of sediment remediation technologies and assisting in the development of sediment remediation designs for large contaminated sediment sites involving multiple stakeholders.
- Serving as CDM Smith’s primary interface with clients on complicated sediment tasks, including the ability to assess and communicate a technical strategy to the client.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree. 5 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).

Skills and Abilities: Solid knowledge of corporate governance practices, organization design principles, accounting principles, finance, supply chain management, and organization management. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to understand complex technical, professional and business materials.

Pay Range Minimum: $81,765
Pay Range Maximum: $134,909
Additional Compensation: All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
Work Location Options: Hybrid Work Options may be considered for successful candidate.
Driver's License Requirements: An appropriate and valid driver's license is required.
