Position Summary:
The Level II Competent Registered Nurse effectively cares for patients and shows commitment to enhancing the quality of care by working collaboratively with the healthcare team. This role emphasizes the integration of research and evidence-based practices. As a Level II Competent Registered Nurse, you will be accountable for delivering comprehensive, continuous, and patient-centered care to your assigned patient group through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate nursing care, ensuring effective supervision of both licensed and unlicensed personnel to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Engage patients, families, and healthcare team members in patient care, providing education and planning for discharge.
- Clearly communicate care plans and relevant information to all health team members.
- Assist leadership in setting excellence standards for patient care and contribute to the enhancement of patient services.
- Integrate performance improvement initiatives into daily care delivery and actively participate in quality improvement efforts.
- Support the orientation of new staff, both permanent and temporary.
- Serve as a resource on hospital policies and procedures for nursing staff and other team members.
- Participate in daily operational activities to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Provide insights to the Nurse Manager regarding unit needs.
- Engage in committees at the unit, departmental, and hospital levels to help shape nursing policies and procedures.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with experience as a Registered Nurse.
- A valid RN License from Virginia or a reciprocal compact state is essential.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a BSN.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR certification is required at the time of hire.
- AHA ACLS Provider certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
- NIHSS (Bluecloud) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
For External Temporary RN Program Participants:
- If certifications such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, or NRP are needed, they must be obtained at the time of hire.
- If CPI, ONS, or NIHSS certifications are required, completion is needed within 30 days.
- If TNCC or ENPC certifications are necessary, they must be obtained within 30 days or by the next available course.
