Job Title: RF Engineer - DAS & Small Cell Networks
Duration: 12 months Long-Term Contract
Location: Edison, NJ (Hybrid - M/F WFH, Tu-Th in local office)
Travel: May require occasional travel to local field sites in the NY Metro area (approx. once per week)
Pay Range: upto $40/hr on W2
Job Description:
The RF Engineer will support the RF Engineering team in the design, implementation, and maintenance of DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) and Small Cell Networks (SCN). This role involves applying sound engineering principles, advanced planning tools, and hands-on testing to ensure optimal system performance. The position requires close collaboration with sales, implementation, NOC, and customer teams to deliver reliable and scalable wireless solutions.
Essential Job Functions:

• Design and propose DAS and small cell network solutions.
• Support sales processes using workflow systems and technical documentation.
• Conduct site selection, CW testing, data analysis, and customer documentation preparation.
• Configure, test, optimize, and commission DAS and small cell networks.
• Provide troubleshooting support for performance issues and technology trials.
• Perform system optimization for multi-node outdoor SCN deployments.
• Utilize empirical and predictive design tools to validate network performance.
• Conduct field measurements, drive testing (CW, benchmark, optimization), and post-processing analysis.
• Operate and interpret test equipment including spectrum analyzers, power meters, pilot scanners, and fiber testing tools.
• Generate technical reports, analyze test results, and recommend upgrades or modifications.
• Collaborate with customer teams on system design, performance improvements, and configuration changes.

Education & Certifications:

• BSEE required; MSEE preferred

Experience & Minimum Requirements:

• 2-4 years of RF Engineering experience or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with DAS and small cell architectures.
• Proficiency with predictive modeling and tools such as MapInfo.
• Strong knowledge of 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless technologies.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (mid-to-advanced level).

Key Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of antenna theory, RF propagation, and optical transmission.
• Ability to create link budgets, calculate noise figures, and identify intermodulation products.
• Skilled in operating RF/fiber test equipment and analysis software.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with a focus on problem-solving and system optimization.
