Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a Resident Engineer - Highway/Bridge For immediate employment in San Diego, CA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the project lead in the field, overseeing the construction management staff on highway and bridge-related projects.
• Ensure successful delivery of the project by implementing and adhering to project plans and specifications.
• Act as the main point of contact for the client, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage and coordinate daily construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.
• Review and approve contractor submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders in a timely manner.
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to maintain project standards and identify potential issues.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and as-built drawings.
• Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, and subcontractors, to resolve conflicts and ensure smooth project progression.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.

• California PE License.

• Motor Vehicle check will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as Construction Manager or Resident Engineer on public works highway projects with construction value $40M+.

• Experience working with Caltrans, OCTA, SBCTA, RCTC, RCTD, SANDAG, and/or LA Metro.

• Excellent Communication Skills.

• Experience overseeing a project staff.

• Strong understanding of Caltrans standards and Specification.

• Experience writing and negotiating change orders.

• Experience with dispute resolution and claims.

• Highway widening experience.

• Structures background.

• Tolling Experience.

• Existing relationships with transportation entities in Southern California delivering highway projects.

• Technical writing skills.

• Experience in pursuit interviews as key staff.

Compensation:
$149,845-$149,845 per year
