RESEARCH ANALYST I

Research Analyst I

We are seeking a Research Analyst to support human neuroscience studies investigating brain function, behavior, and cognition. This role focuses on analyzing data collected from participants with indwelling brain implants and wearable sensors to identify relationships between neural activity and behavior, with the goal of advancing treatments for brain disorders. The ideal candidate will bring strong quantitative and organizational skills, experience with human subjects research, and enthusiasm for translational neuroscience.

Key responsibilities include:

• Organize, process, and analyze multimodal datasets (intracranial recordings, wearable sensors, behavioral and cognitive measures).
• Contribute to statistical and computational analyses under supervision of the PI and research team.
• Generate figures, summary reports, and presentations to support publications and grant submissions.
• Maintain accurate, well-documented code and workflows for reproducible research.
• Lead quality assurance initiatives for data collection, ensuring adherence to approved protocols and institutional policies.
• Develop and implement strategies for participant retention and compliance, using data-driven insights.
• Confer with the PI and research team to discuss study plans, interpretation of results, and manuscript preparation.
• Responsible for training junior staff, students, or research assistants in data management and analysis procedures.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical engineering, data science, or a related field.
• Two years of relevant research or data analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with human subjects data, including familiarity with IRB and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, or similar).
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research team environment.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $51,448.00 to USD $77,945.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
