Your Specific Responsibilities

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

Duties

Responsible for the supervision of 4 Regulatory Specialist II positions and a Regulatory Specialist III position for the Certified Nursing Assistant Registry to include evaluations, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and having the authority for hiring and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions. The employee in this position uses discretion and independent judgment in performing the following duties:

This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. The incumbent must plan the workloads, deadlines, and work objectives of employees. The incumbent must ensure staff have the appropriate training and tools to meet those objectives; The incumbent must ensure staff is knowledgeable of the statutes and rules governing licensure of the CNA profession and assisting staff with the appropriate application and interpretation of laws and rules; The incumbent must conduct staff performance evaluations, approve leave, and take disciplinary action or recommend such actions when necessary.

Review and audit LEIDS reports weekly to ensure examination and endorsement applications meet the 30 and 90 day statutory requirements. Ensure Livescan results are processed within 7-14 business days of receipt. Handle escalated calls by providing personal guidance to customers with more complex and technical inquiries and collaborating with Prometric or other departments as needed.

The incumbent should meet with each of their direct reports to provide constructive feedback. This feedback should include where the employee is currently with meeting evaluation criteria. Any feedback given to an employee about performance or behavior problems must be followed up with an email to the staff person recapping the discussion. The incumbent must implement corrective action when necessary.

The incumbent serves as liaison between the CNA Registry and test vendor Prometric to help troubleshoot problems for the board office and for applicants by examination.

The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Program Operations Administrator and Executive Director in the implementation of laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to licensure functions and activities, and provides input in regard to regulatory changes. The incumbent also assists in long-range planning sessions.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes, board and department rules governing licensure and regulation, and consumer protection.
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data.
  • Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve complaints.
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and facilities, and consumer protection.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensures proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to supervise others.
  • Ability to train others.
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Qualifications

Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years administrative experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, travel arrangement preparation, and/or personnel and budget review. College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), iBuilder, iViewer, Adobe Acrobat, and LEIDS systems.
