Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position:
The X-Ray Technician performs digital X-ray studies on patients as ordered by providers. The role involves working within scope of practice to assist in patient care under provider supervision.

Essential Job Functions:

• Safely performs provider-ordered radiographic examinations, including patient positioning, immobilization, and radiation protection.
• Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization equipment; handles patients professionally and safely.
• Accurately documents patient encounters in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Selects proper technical factors to ensure safety of patient and equipment.
• Maintains clinical and administrative skills; may collect specimens, run point-of-care tests, and travel to other facilities as needed.
• Practices sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or repairs needed.
• Performs additional duties such as ordering supplies, patient registration, scheduling, and other administrative tasks.

Licensing/Certification:

• Certification and Registration with ARRT (required).
• State Licensure (preferred or required by state).
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (required upon hire).

Education:

Associate's degree from an ARRT-accredited institute (preferred).

Experience:

1 year in radiation safety and patient care (preferred).

Training:

Experience with EPIC EHR and PACS systems (preferred).

Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of medical terminology, office equipment, and ability to work with diverse patient populations, with strong attention to detail and multitasking skills.

Knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to assess patient data relative to age and needs.
