Radiation Therapist
The Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering ionizing radiation treatments to patients in accordance with the prescription and guidance of a Radiation Oncologist. This role includes performing patient simulations to prepare for therapy, providing basic patient care, and offering education to support patients throughout their treatment journey.

Posting Specifics
- Location: Intermountain Health St. George Regional Hospital
- Shift Details and Hours: PRN (as needed), with shifts varying based on departmental needs
- Additional Details: Shift differentials given for evenings, nights, and weekends
Essential Functions
- Interpret and accurately implement radiation treatment prescriptions and plans as directed by the Radiation Oncologist.
- Administer and document all simulation and treatment procedures in accordance with established protocols.
- Conduct simulation procedures, including the creation and application of appropriate immobilization devices to ensure precise treatment delivery.
- Acquire accurate anatomical measurements, contours, and data necessary for dosimetry and treatment planning.
- Provide compassionate, basic patient care during treatment sessions, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Educate patients about their treatment process and monitor for clinical symptoms or side effects, reporting concerns to the care team.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation and billing for all treatment-related procedures.

Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Radiologic Technologist license in the state of practice
- Certification in Radiation Therapy from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited institution
Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
- For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.
