As the Radiation Oncology Medical Director, you will provide essential clinical guidance to implement a groundbreaking Radiation Oncology solution, focused on achieving clinical, quality, and financial goals. Your role will involve ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, and cost-efficient radiation oncology care for our clients. We are looking for an innovative, hands-on clinician who is ready to take on challenges in a remote work setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct utilization review determinations for radiation oncology populations and support case and disease management teams to enhance clinical outcomes.
• Engage with providers over phone consultations, discussing evidence-based guidelines and care plan changes that can impact healthcare costs.
• Elevate the clinical expertise of our radiation oncology team through educational sessions and serve as a key resource for relevant medical societies and stakeholders.
• Promote the Optum clinical value proposition that emphasizes quality, affordability, and service, supporting sales and growth activities through client presentations and consultations.
• Review and analyze clinical data (quality metrics, claims and health record data, utilization data) to identify improvement opportunities in clinical care and processes.
• Collaborate with operational and business partners on enterprise-wide research and quality initiatives to drive Optum's impact in the radiation oncology field.
• This remote position requires access to a company-provided personal computer, reliable Internet, and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
• Participate in scheduled rotational weekend and holiday on-call coverage.

Required Qualifications:

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted medical license.
• Board certification in Radiation Oncology.
• At least 5 years of clinical practice experience in radiation oncology.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience in medical care delivery systems, utilization management, and quality management.
• Ability to build credibility and influence among team members and the clinical community.
• Availability for rotational weekend and holiday on-call coverage.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience in managed care, quality management, or administrative leadership.
• Familiarity with payer guidelines.
• Experience in client-facing customer relationship management.

Compensation for this specialty ranges from $238,000 - $357,500, inclusive of base pay and performance bonuses, based on various factors like local labor markets and experience. In addition to salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions, subject to eligibility.
