Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Quality Manager to lead and manage the quality systems and processes in our quality laboratory. Our company manufactures a variety of products for the food, paper, and film industries. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a quality laboratory setting within a manufacturing environment, and will oversee all laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain the plant's Quality System.
• Create and update documentation for the Quality System, including the Quality Systems Manual.
• Oversee the operation of the Quality Assurance (QA) Lab.
• Prepare for and execute audits in the Quality Lab.
• Oversee the training of QA technicians.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Write internal specifications for products, including lists of tests to be performed and their limits.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in quality assurance and control processes.
• Experience in laboratory settings and chemistry.
• Expertise in auditing and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001.
• Skill in standardizing and managing quality control processes in the food industry, as well as metallurgical and printing industries.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Excellent computer proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Ability to think critically and perform root cause analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance.
• Scientific experience preferred.
• HACCP training is a plus.
• Knowledge in chemistry, metallurgy, food safety, food safety audits, packaging science, materials science, IR spectroscopy, gas chromatography, coefficient of friction testing, and bond strength testing.

Work Environment:

The work environment is based in a laboratory at a manufacturing facility.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
